Core concepts
Household
A shared set of accounts, transactions, and settings for one or more people. Everyone in it sees the same data.
Category
The purpose of a transaction, such as 🥬 Groceries, 🏠 Housing, or 💰 Paychecks. Each household starts with categories you can change.
Merchant
The business associated with a transaction. Penny matches bank descriptions such
as SQ *BLUE BOTTLE 0428 to a merchant name and logo.
Tag
An additional label for transactions across categories, such as Japan trip,
Reimbursable, or Side project.
Rule
Conditions and actions that automatically categorize, tag, or make other changes to matching transactions.
