Penny uses service providers to operate the app and deliver its features. This page describes our subprocessors and other providers that handle personal information in connection with Penny. Read our Privacy Policy for more about how we use and protect your data.
Infrastructure and service providers
DigitalOcean
Purpose: Hosting Penny's backend application and background processing.
Data processed: Account and household information, financial data, and technical request information processed by the hosted application.
DigitalOcean Data Processing Agreement
Cloudflare
Purpose: Website hosting, content delivery, and file storage through Cloudflare R2. R2 is part of Cloudflare, so it is included in this entry.
Data processed: Uploaded files and images, including receipts and custom display images; household export archives containing financial records; and IP addresses and request metadata when you access content delivered through Cloudflare. See the Privacy Policy for how image and download links work.
Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum
Resend
Purpose: Delivering account verification, password reset, household invitation, waitlist, and monthly summary emails.
Data processed: Recipient email addresses and email content. Depending on the message, this can include names, household information, account action links, and financial summaries included in monthly emails.

RevenueCat
Purpose: Managing in-app subscriptions, purchases, and access to paid features.
Data processed: Penny user identifiers, purchase and subscription records, and app and device information associated with the subscription service.

Sentry
Purpose: Monitoring and diagnosing backend errors, when enabled.
Data processed: Filtered error reports containing error types, code locations, timestamps, and application release and environment information. Penny's backend filters error messages and removes user details, request contents, and local variable values from these reports before sending them.

Connected services
These providers support features you choose to use and also process information under their own privacy policies.
Plaid
Purpose: Connecting financial institutions and syncing accounts when you link a bank through Plaid.
Data processed: A Penny user identifier, bank connection information, and the financial account, balance, and transaction data you authorize Plaid to access.
Apple
Purpose: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and permission-based access to eligible Apple Wallet financial accounts through FinanceKit.
Data processed: Authentication information when you use Apple sign-in, and purchase and subscription information when you subscribe through the App Store. When you connect accounts through FinanceKit, Penny accesses the Wallet account details, balances, and transaction history you authorize on your device and uploads that information to Penny's servers for syncing, storage, and use in your household.

Purpose: Google sign-in, when available and selected by you.
Data processed: Authentication and basic profile information associated with signing in, such as your account identifier, name, and email address.
